We raise St Croix sheep, Akbash Dogs/livestock guardian dogs, goats, pastured chickens, and classic sized/midsized cattle. We strive for parasite resistance, a docile temperament, and the ability to get meaty on pasture.
LANGSTON UNIVERSITY PARASITE RESISTANCE STUDY:
We have spent the last 3 years in a research project with Langston University studying parasite resistance of our sheep. All of our commercial and registered sheep, rams and ewes, have been rigorously tested for parasite resistance, average daily gain, residual feed intake, and packed cell volume. Additionally, our rams were purposely inoculated with the Barber Pole worms (at potentially lethal dosages) and evaluated for fecal egg count and packed cell volume. Not only did the data prove our ram's ability to destroy the parasites, but they digested the parasite and converted it to energy for gain/growth, thus improving overall vitality. This means our rams and ewes surpass common/average sheep in regards to parasite resistance. How would you like to own progeny of ZERO fecal egg count sheep?
Our ewes are exceptionally hardy, parasite resistant, fertile, stayed in excellent flesh and produced ample milk with the least amount of input. The sires are of the best performing Study rams with the ability to get meaty on pasture alone. We have rams and ewes for sale seasonally.
This is a great opportunity to buy lambs from the best of tested parent stock. But be warned: just because one has St Croix sheep, does not mean that they have ZERO fecal egg count and/or will gain weight properly, or at all, without large amounts of supplemental grain.
